In downtown Crystal Springs, Mississippi, USA, a local community organization and downtown revitalization group hosted an outdoor blues music festival, Taste of the Blues.
The venue was a public street block with limited space and heavy pedestrian traffic. The project team needed to complete vehicle entry, stage deployment, and on-site organization without blocking public access.
This project used the ST315 Mobile Stage Trailer. The project did not include an LED screen. The on-site presentation focused on sound coverage and basic lighting.
The lighting setup combined moving head lights and ambient lights, covering the performance period from daytime to early evening. The sound system was arranged according to the audience area along the street block.
Power was supplied through temporary municipal power, with on-site electricity managed through temporary event power distribution.
Site Constraints
The main challenge of this project was not the equipment itself. The real challenge was the site.
The street block had limited space, and public access routes had to remain open. The team needed to confirm three boundaries first: the vehicle parking boundary, the stage deployment boundary, and the audience circulation boundary.
If these boundaries were not clear, the vehicle would need to be repositioned repeatedly, and the setup rhythm would be disrupted.
Hydraulic Remote Deployment and Fast Setup
In a street block environment, the first step is not pressing the remote control. The first step is confirming the position.
The operators first confirmed the vehicle parking point, stage deployment boundary, and audience circulation route. After the boundaries were confirmed, the hydraulic deployment was completed by remote control.
After the structural movements were completed, the locking points were checked before the equipment was moved into position.
This helped reduce rework and made the setup less likely to be interrupted by surrounding crowds.
This project was usually handled by 1–2 operators, with on-site deployment completed in about 35 minutes.
Power Distribution and Cable Routing
For street events, one of the biggest risks is occupying public access routes.
After connecting to temporary municipal power, the site team placed the distribution point away from the main pedestrian path and kept enough space for standing inspection.
Cables were routed along the edges whenever possible, rather than through the middle of pedestrian traffic.
When cable crossings were unavoidable, the team reduced the number of crossing points and secured the cables with anti-trip protection.
The goal was clear: keep the audience moving smoothly while preventing the working area from being squeezed by the crowd.
On-site Inspection
Before the performance started, the operators completed a power-on inspection.
After the event began, the site team carried out routine checks. The inspection was not just a quick visual check.
The key focus was on two points: whether the power distribution remained stable, and whether cable fixing had been affected by pedestrian movement.
